CPS has taken my children. I have a 14-year-old son who has some behavioral issues. He did not want to clean the house on 7/31 and attacked his father and ran away. We had several adult witnesses to this fact. The Sheriff's Department in Houston County, Georgia found him four hours and 8.5 miles later and he said his dad beats him. They (CPS) took him and my daughter and I have not been given any paperwork or anything. I'm having a difficult time finding legal help and these DFACS workers lie and keep lying. I don't know what to do. I wish someone could help.

The court has taken my child, not CPS but the court, and put her the home with a convicted felon that just got out of FEDERAL prision after spending 14 years. I am hoping that someone can lead me to legal counsel to assist my current attorney. I am a former CPS worker in Georgia fired for NOT removing children (there was no reason to) and for reporting abuses of power to the state office. I am yet another victim of CPS. My ex-husband called DFACS for a revenge on me and my current husband. All six of our children were taken away November 2006. Now we are in the middle of a divorce and fighting for our chldren seperatly. The sheriff's department helped DFACS out by placing charges on us. I was foced to "voluntarily" place my children with relatives and have completed my case plan, but still fighting to return my children. One of my children was placed by a judge in custody of my ex., who is on drugs, but the judge says is a better fit parent unless I divorce my husband. Please send advice!!!!!!!!

ALP JUSTICE PACT is unique in its mission which is to change Georgia's archaic domestic relations laws but its focus is primarily on changing the Juvenile Court's legal processes and child custody laws, which the Supreme Court of Georgia has held provides a Juvenile Court "wide latitude" in its custody decisions and its Order will not be overturned absent a "manifest abuse of discretion". As discussed below, a Juvenile Court's "findings of fact" and "conclusions of law" will become forever shielded from review when a "pseudo-justice" sticker is placed on its "Black Box", which contains its "findings" and "conclusions", impenetrable to light or wisdom, just like Darwin's "Black Box", which contains the mysteries of the origins of human life, are also impenetrable to light or wisdom when a "pseudo-science sticker" is placed upon Darwin's "Black Box". ALP JUSTICE PACT will accomplish its mission by researching, interpreting and compiling child custody decisions in Georgia where one party was forced in a Juvenile Court custody trial and/or hearings without legal representation, and as in my case, without even a hearing on attorney's fees which I had pending for over one year. That research will also be used to change archaic domestic relations laws across the Nation through applications for appeal filed in the United States Supreme Court (06-9129) and/or in the Supreme Court of Georgia (S07I0873) regarding Douglas County Juvenile Court Judge Walker's "illegal and immoral" Order Modifying Visitation, indefinitely, solely on the basis of an "unabated conflict" between myself and my spouse in federal court, without any factual or legal basis.

My daughter has just been put under the microscope of CPS by what we think a jealous ex-husband and a crazy ex-mother-in-law. My daughter has just moved on after her divorce and has a boyfriend for the first time since the divorce was final. This young man who has only seen my grand-daughter approx. 6 or 7 times and always seen her in a setting with all family members home has been accused of touching her. I feel bad for this fellow beings I know for fact he has never had the opportunity to even touch her that he has to be subject to this. A Doctor exam concluded she had not been touched and we have since been able to get the ex to say his mother coaxed my grandaughter into saying this young man touched her but yet CPS is still persuing. Do you have any advice please! My grand-daughter is two and she and my daughter live with me since the divorce while my daughter returns to school. Why can these people get away with making false accusations and CPS doesn't even try to ensure that they are telling the truth? — Desperate in Spalding County

Have been investigated approximately six times and every time came by not guilty of the claim. This time we have been accused of being on drugs and drug dealers. Our house was searched with no court order and nothing was found. We allowed this because the officer told us if we didn't allow them they would tear our house apart. Then they contacted my job and when I returned to work was sent for a drug test which I refused. Then two days later a social worker showed up at my door with papers for me and my husband to be drug tested get this by the same doctor's office as my job. We went and did the test and are waiting for the results (which should be negative being that we are not on drugs). How do I keep them from continuing this harrassement after we are proven clean and innocent? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am at my wits' end and tired of being worried every time I hear a knock at my door that DFCS is here with some false allegation to take my kids away.

I need help. I have been harassed by my son's godmother (also a foster mother in Florida) for years, her wanting me to let her adopt my son and everytime I told her no, CPS would be at my house. So we moved from Florida to Georgia and she found out where we lived, our phone number, etc,. and CPS was again at our house. Well this time because we were new to the town they removed our children, never showing us a court order, and saying they didn't have to show us one. Well this lady ended up with my two children after making my whole family believe her lies. CPS recommended we transfer custody to her. I would like to know how to go about getting my children back. My wife and I adopted a sibling group of three, 11 years ago, the oldest ( age 15) has been in trouble for a long time fighting acting out attacking police officers, my wife, his sisters, etc... he has been in therapeutic foster care for 16 months and now DFACS has threatened to "LOOK' at our other children if we don't "Cooperate" with re-unification efforts. Just being listed as an AFRA member isn't likely to attract their attention. They have gone after people in the yahoogroups who showed pictures and named their kids as a "breach of the child's confidentiality". Never mind that as soon as they create a legal orphan, the kid's names and pictures will be exposed to the world on their kiddie pound adoption mill websites. So you aren't entirely wrong.

I'll start with DFACS was accusing me of neglecting my daughter who was 3 months at the time she was under weight but her pediatrician said that she was just a slow grower they then started accusing me of drug use which I not only despise drugs but also people who do them at that point my mother got temporary custody of my baby my daughter is now 7 months old and I see her maybe twice a month if DFACS would leave innocent people alone and go for the one who are really neglecting and abusing their children then I could understand but they only seem to choose young mothers, people who aren't what they consider the perfect family and most of the case workers I have talked to have no children and are just rude I thought we were supposed to be in the land of the free where people have rights but I just don't know anymore.

My son was taken from me out of Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. The Doctors and Nurses there thought that I was in medical neglect in caring for my son which was all false information. They claimed that I had not visited my son in the hospital and was not there to take care of him. My son's name is Daniel Burney. He is now 10 months old and we have been fighting the system since June of this year. I intend to fight them every step of the way and not back down for one second. I did call the police on my social worker who came to my house one Sunday and broke things on my property and we called the police who said that they have no jurisdiction to do that because my son isn't home at the time. We have another hearing coming up this Monday, Nov. 7th. Please keep us in your prayers. I am not afraid anymore because we have a "real" attorney. I am also looking for person's who are located in my area to become acquainted with. Someone's who have had the same problems. DFCS Social Workers are the stray dogs of the government. We need to turn the hoses on them. Suggestion: Since these workers are only required to show a business card when they come to your door, call the police stating someone is trying to gain entry to your home, have access to your children, and will not show proper ID. I'm in the middle of a fight for our lives. DFCS received a call from a stranger claiming to be his therapist, and she said some pretty horrible things about my husband. Things no 6 year old would say to a stranger in 20 minutes even if it did happen (which it didn't). Now they've taken him from home, and the first reason was because I was coaching him, now I'm not permitted to see him but once a month for an hour. Reason: I was in the house during the abuse and didn't stop it. Now they're trying to whip up a charge on me! We have a good lawyer, but the lies are out of hand. Who will listen to us? We joined this group because we now have a sense of shelter. Georgia DFACS treats foster families terribly. The newly passed foster parent bill of rights does not protect because no one will hold DFACS accountable for breaking those laws! Warning.... fostering parenting can devastate your life. Your own children and families are at risk if you become a foster parent for Georgia DFACS. My ex-husband filed a report on me to DFACS at the end of December, simply because I had a boyfriend for the first time since our divorce and he was jealous (married 22 years, divorced 2). Evidently, the case worker did everything necessary except to officially "close" the case. I had already taken and passed drug test, home visit, etc, and thought it was over. Recently, another case worker took over and did everything all over again. Everything was done except the drug test and evidently the one I had already taken would not suffice so they sent out someone to randomly test me at home. It came up positive for marijuana. There is only one problem. I do not smoke marijuana. I am, however, on a litany of legitimate, legal drugs, both prescription and nonprescription. They want me to come in now and sign some other form which I went to do today and the caseworker was not there as she said she would be. I have a call in to my doctor and pharmacist right now to ask questions about my meds and would like to know what rights I have. If it is something I am taking causing the positive results, and I have another test, I am screwed and branded for life. I tend to think the test was contaminated, however, as it did not leave my home in the sealed container (the lid was left in my bathroom). I should mention I am also on probation dealing with a dispute with the same ex-husband that I chose to plead guilty to in order to avoid a long, drawn-out court battle so I could get him out of my life. I have never been in trouble in my life (I'm 45) These results will also be reported to them. I need help FAST.

I am a mother of a 14 month old who was taken from my husband and me September 27, 2004. We were pulled over by the sheriff's department for (alleged) no headlights in the rain. We were returning from a doctors visit for my then- ten month old for her routine shots. I was driving on a suspended license for a failure to appear on a traffic violation the year before (charge no license on person). I failed to appear due to delivery of my daughter. The car I was driving was actually a car that I was contemplating purchasing. The officer subsequently searched the car that was not mine that I was driving. He and other officers found what they say was meth amphetemine. Lots of it. 2 or 3 ounces. My husband was arrested with me. We were taken to jail and my daughter placed immediately in foster care. I am a victim of wrong place at the wrong time. WHAT CAN I DO TO SAVE MY CHILD AND MY LIFE!? What ever happened to Innocent until proven guilty? My life is a living hell. I miss my baby and she misses me. I am given a cruel one hour visit every other week. HELP!

She does not drink either but they came and took the kids saying that they smelled alcohol on her breath. My wife is a diabetic, she has never drunk alcohol. She is finding out what to do about proving she is not an alcoholic. How do you go about finding a lawyer for this sort of thing to try and get the kids back? We have never been through this before and need to know of some good lawyers here in Georgia that are willing to help.

He has a violent criminal background. But he took an anger management class and a parenting class, So now because he earns more money than their mother he is very close to getting these children. The children are with their grandmother at the present. These children are devastated and miss their mother. I am a nurse who works with "Special" needs children. I am in TOTAL SHOCK at our local DFACS. I had always thought they were out to help the children. Now I see how they try to play god and destroy these precious children's lives. I Have been dealing with DFACS for almost a year. We have jumped through hoops for them all this time, only to have them take us to court and threaten to take our kids if we did not continue cooperating with them. The gave my husband and me a drug test before we left the court building. We were bullied into doing it. They said we could not leave WITH our kids unless we took it. So of course we gave in and did it. No big deal because neither of us use drugs. My test came back negative, my husbands came back positive for THC. We were appalled! They told us my husband was not allowed contact with our children without supervision. The next day, my husband went to Labcorp. We had a full drug panel done on him. It all came back NEGATIVE!! We knew then they fudged the test. We hired a lawyer who is trying to request records from DFACS and another court date for us. The DFACS worker left a message on our machine saying that she was asking for a court order to have my children removed from my home... all because we are not cooperating with them. I have a nine year old and a two year old, both boys. My nine year old has nightmares every night about "monsters" taking him away from mom and dad. I have him scheduled with the doctor today, to address this issue. But we are so scared!! We live in fear in our own home!! I came across your site when I was searching for help. I would love to join, and get any advice from anyone who has been thru this before. We love our children very much. We would NEVER harm them. DFACS is harming them. Please help!

I would like more information about AFRA. I am trying desperately to get my grandchildren out of foster care in Georgia. They were removed from my daughter on a first visit to her home. They have refused me custody because of a promise by a caseworker to the foster family that they could adopt my grandchildren. This on the very day the children were placed in that foster home. The foster family has many friends at the department. We are a good and decent family and nothing like this has ever happened in our family. None of our family was raised in the system. I am unable to afford an attorney. I know there are many people in a similar situation and I hope someone can maybe give me some advice. We go back to court for a final hearing this month and I don't know how to handle it if they refuse custody to me or another family member. Any advice would help. With more information on this organization I believe I may have found a group I can truly believe in and may be of some help for others in a similar situation. Depending on the outcome of my case. Recently my grandson was taken by DEFACS after he came home from a weekend at his daddy's house with a broken collar bone. My daughter and I took him to the hospital, and DEFACS was called, which we knew that would happen — an investigation was done and ruled out as an accident. DEFACS expects my daughter to perform miracles, her and her son lived with her daddy and me. DEFACS says that he cannot come home, that my daughter has to have her own place for three months. My daughter is going thru a divorce, and she had developed a drug problem, however she did go to rehab on her own, and is doing great, the child never was neglected or abused. He did not suffer due to her problems, and was cared for by all three of us. He came home hurt, and they know this. DEFACS has too much power, and they tend to legally kidnap kids that are safe and cared for. I don't understand the problem with them staying with us for awhile. This is his home. There are no grandparent rights in the state of Georgia. They really need to focus on the children that are in danger, and to stop making profit off the children and their families.

I would like to become a member. My daughter has lost her children to DFCS and to her mother-in-law. It is pretty bad when the worker doesn't try to talk to the mother but doesn't mind listening to lies told by the mother-in-law. They also don't mind discussing private and confidential information with the mother-in-law that doesn't concern her. I mean I really don't think information about my home evaluation is any of her business. If I had wanted her to know my 18-year-old son failed a drug test I would have told her. DFCS made my daughter take mental evaluation and refused to tell her the finding. They just took her kids with no chance of getting them back until October. The investigation has been going on for over a year. It started in late 2002 and went on through 2003 at which time they safety planned all three boys with the mother-in-law. Yet when she kicked my daughter out she allowed her to take the baby with her. She came to my house and we never heard from DFCS again until they did DNA tests and found that the youngest boy did not belong to her son. Then DFCS called me to come get him because he was not her grandson. This story goes on and on. In early 2004 DFCS took all three boys and placed them in foster homes. The oldest one was given back to his paternal grandmother the other two remain in foster care. I have tried everything I know to get these kids and they will not let me have them. I have a nice home, a steady job and all the love that it takes to raise these kids until their mother can get them back. But they will not approve me. They will not ever talk to me. But they will talk to the mother-in-law and they tell her anything she wants to know even if it is a breach of my privacy. There is more to this story if you would like to hear it, let me know.

Our story was on the front page and an entire inside page of the Atlanta Journal- Constitution and two other times. Barbara has a suspended jail sentence and three years probation for going to the newspaper. We are an interracial couple with 4 children between us. My 2 youngest are white and my future husband is black. Back in March he spanked my youngest daughter and left a mark on her hand. The DA's Office and DFACS are trying there best to keep this family separated. The DA's Office already said they want to see him do time. He's a wonderful man. He attended anger management and parenting classes and would do anything to get this family back together. What can we do to get a fair trial, based on facts and not on color? He's ready to throw in the towel. Can somebody give us advice?

Fair Trial? Very few parents are getting anything close to a fair trial- black, white, yellow, red or green. The guy is in a fight for his life and trying to create an inter-racial family isn't helping any. But the truth is, it doesn't make any difference. CPS is an Equal Opportunity Destroyer.

I am in the late stages of being raped by the Lamar County Juvenile Justice System and Social Services, although I am not a Lamar County resident. If given appropriate direction, I believe I could be of some help, as I am a member of the news media. WTGA News, a WSB affiliate, in Thomaston, Georgia. Mine is an extremely convoluted case, and goes before the court for supposed "final disposition" Wednesday, June 4th, 2003. I have been victimized from the beginning by a typical CPS Railroad Investigation, and later by a court system (S.A.A.G. attny's, guardian ad-litem, the whole nine yards) with no regard to due process or rule of law. They have attacked me and, worst of all, victimized MY CHILDREN. They won't even allow them to speak in court. The oldest is 15. Immediate direction is requested, so I may not only help the cause as a whole, but also find hope that I can rescue MY KIDS. Keep us in your prayers. God be with us all.

I completely agree that Family & Children Services have too much power and some are abusing it. We just went through something with my 12 year old daughter. It's way too easy for someone to say something, either from lack of information or from exaggerations and then these people are in your lives trying to railroad you. Our case was dissolved but it's a scary thing and EVERYONE should be afraid. The best parents can find themselves at the mercy of social services. I would like to see something done about this.
