CPS got involved with us over false accusations and have
been involved where the worker comes to our home and
disrespects us. We have done everything they have asked
so far and every time they come back they come back with
something new. Right now they are using my 13 years
old's mental, physical, and behavioral problems to
continue to come to my home. They have never offered
any help for us. My husband and I have been doing it
all ourselves. I want to know what our rights are.

I am not a father, but was close enough to being one and
to experiencing some of the ways in which Maine DHHS
works that I can't sit by and watch families get torn
apart by this horrible organization. It makes me sick
to think that we can't sue. Or can we?

I would like to join AFRA because I think the laws on
grandparents rights need to be changed. I fully agree
there are some grandparents not fit to see their
grandchildren. The courts should take each case
individually and then make their decision. As far as
department of human services here in the State of Maine
they are a joke. They take kids that should be home and
leave the ones that should be removed. The Sally
Schoefield incident is only an example of their total
screw ups! Now when she gets out of prison she should
have to register as a child abuser. She could end up
babysitting your child! I may be on the opposite side
of the coin than most of you, but I feel as strongly
about these issues as you do yours.

This is about my grandson Oskar. he is
the son of my 17-year-and-11-month-old Daughter and been staying
with me until 11/12/04 when my daughter called me wanting her
son to stay with her, she and her boyfriends where living with
his parents in Auburn Maine and where in the process of securing
on apartment. On the 19 of November. I was called by the
Lewiston Police Department to call and was informed that my
grandson been taking into DHS custody this afternoon. I then
visit the police station with my daughter and was informed that
I have no right to see the police report until Monday after I
follow due process and request this information. My daughter
has not been charged at this time and nobody called to see if my
grandson can stay with me. I have a letter written by my
daughter dated 11/12/04 and witnessed on 11/12/04 that in the
event where she is not able to provide and give care adequately
to Oskar she is giving me custody. I have had prior encounters
with DHS and none of them where positive communications. I also
work for Sweester as a Child Case Manager and been working as
direct support worker for a diverse population with disabilities
and can not understand why I was not called by DHS and the
intent to place my grandson in DHS custody rather that place him
with family that is financial, emotionally and safe. Anybody
out there that is willing to help please feel free because as of
right now I am lost. Thank you very much and YES YOU CAN PRINT
THIS AND HOPEFULLY VERY VERY PUBLIC because I am for one tired
of DHS power and lifelong harassment. Thank you for anybody
that has any info or can help me and my family with this.

I am sure that you know about the Logan Marr case that
shook things up here a few years ago. Well she and her
mother lived just down the street from my family and we
shared the same CPS worker who also played a part in the
removal of my children. Last spring I took the
opportunity to speak at the newly assigned
commissioner's admittance ceremonies, I had also met
with him a few weeks prior and spoke with him at length
about my situation. Jack seemed very sympathetic to the
atrocity that has occurred to my family and others in
this state. But here it is almost November and my
children are still not home and they are still in harms
way. I believe that I have made myself public enough
and caused the department enough grief that I may never
get my children home. Is there anyway you can help
me?

Hello I am 26 years old. I had my four
children removed from my home two years ago. DHS told me that
they were removing them for noncompliance. First they forced
their way into my life because I was on my own with four kids
with no friends or family around and I was new to Maine. DHS
had said that they were just going to help me get services to
help me with my kids but the people they sent to my home did not
help they only went back to DHS to tell them everything I had
done wrong. They were not helping so I told DHS that I didn't
need their help. They didn't care, said I had to even though
they told me I could stop at any time in the beginning. So they
hit me with noncompliance and took my children. I fought and
did all that they wanted of me and nothing I did was enough or
good enough. They gave me my twins back first but told me that
I could not have my baby back because he was too attached to the
foster parents and that I would never get him back. After one
and a half months they took the twins back because my son had
depression and they said I would not get them back because it
would take too long for me to learn how to care for him like
that and they were going to terminate my rights. I have lost
but because I am now pregnant again they want to do all this to
me all over again. I will do anything to stop what is going on
in the state of Maine and I know a lot of other people who feel
the same. I would love to join AFRA because I want to do what I
can so that other people don't have to go through this. No one
deserves this kind of torture and pain.

equation. These agencies PUT children at risk! We want
pamphlets, bumper stickers, posters, T-Shirts, et
cetera! We'll take anything we can get, and we'll pay
for the t-shirts, and whatever else we need to! We live
in ultra-left-wing Maine, and we are gagging on the
left-wing agendas here! There are so many do-gooders

My fiancé and I have been
dealing with CPS harassment for years. He has had his three
children kidnapped, and because of his "extensive history" with
the department they are now targeting our four-month-old baby
girl we had together. There have been no allegations and no
charges brought against us, still they continue to email me and
make threatening statements such as, "Your cooperation is
important; otherwise, I might have to make some tough choices
regarding (child) based on what I already know." The destruction
of families has to stop! I have had enough! I want to see the
system torn down, straight to the very bottom. Government
involved in family isn't working. The amount of children it's
saving is minuscule compared to the amount of horror and sadness
the children who are ripped from their families are going
through.

Let me tell you how DHS ruined my son's
life. In a divorce in 1995 I was given custody in our home. My
ex wanted to satisfy her vengeance (how better than to call
DHS), she lied to them, and bribed our son to be in a house with
no supervision. The ice-cold "nazi type" agent came and took
him away to a troubled life. Well he just turned 18 and was let
out of jail in S. Portland. Good work DHS! State agencies
will have work in the future, because of your efforts. I
believe this is the real purpose of DHS. When I went in to pay
my legal extortion in August, I was sickened to see many single
parents with babies, getting paid to have more. More troubled
lives and more work for state agencies.

I am the mother of 3 children, one who
was taken away from me when I was breast feeding for something
that I did not do, but unsure about my husband. I stuck up for
him, thinking that it would help our family. My daughter has
been in foster care for about a year, and now because my
3-year-old daughter said mommy bo bo to a worker... they
"interviewed" her and then put a safety plan on me. By the way
my daughter has a speech problem. So now I am back at square
one and they are looking at my now ex-husband for placement.
But he is falling short. So now they are looking to TPR him,
and with that I get TPR'd too. Even if I do everything that
they ask of me, which I have.

I lost my four grandchildren to DHS in Maine on May 22
02 and now I am not allowed to visit or get calls from
them. They say it's because of how they behave after.
These children are all I have to keep me going and to
think of them in foster care with strangers is a
frightening thought. I need to do something to get them
back home. So I can sympathize with all who are going
through the same thing.

My two younger adopted children (we adopted through
foster care 17 years ago) have generic problems and the
social service department (ss I call them but known as
DHS) took my kids. We have fought for three years and
the kids are supposed to be coming home, but the ss is
still stalling. They want our support monies - ⅓
of our take-home pay. My story is long and I don't mind
sharing it with anyone. I do want us to join together
to fight this system. A civil lawsuit could get
attention but I would like to see many, many numbers,
not for money for the attention.

My family were and still are wrongfully done by the DHS
of Maine. Kid's Peace of New England, located in
Ellsworth, Maine are abusing my 14-year-old daughter who
is wrongfully in the Maine's DHS custody. Kid's Peace
is also abusing other children who reside there. These
kids are being abused while in the custody of the state.
I am contacting everybody I can to try to get someone to
do something for these kids. This facility has been
investigated over and over again; yet the abuse still
